Your documents deserve a clear explanation of where they go and how they’re used. Here is how the current Diakto app and this website work.
Your file index stays on your Mac.
Diakto reads supported files in the folders you select and keeps a local search database. It may store extracted text, filenames, file paths, dates, saved searches, search history, preview caches, and optional embeddings. Indexing and OCR do not rewrite your original documents.
Local storage still needs protection.
The app does not encrypt its SQLite database, previews, backups, or diagnostic logs. These can contain private document text. Protect your Mac and backups with appropriate device security, such as FileVault. Deleting information from the app does not remove independent backups, filesystem snapshots, or other copies.
AI is optional.
Core document search does not need AI. Optional Apple on-device features and local Ollama models can assist with search. Talk to Files supplies relevant excerpts, filenames, paths, and conversation context to your local Ollama model. Diakto accepts only a loopback Ollama endpoint; installing models is a separate step.
Microsoft mail is a separate connection.
If configured and connected, Microsoft 365 authentication and mail synchronization contact Microsoft services. The app stores supported mail content locally and keeps authentication tokens in the macOS Keychain. Local file content is not uploaded to Microsoft by Diakto. Mail integration has its own setup requirements and does not index mail attachments.
Diagnostic logs are optional.
Persistent app logs are off by default. If enabled, logs may contain queries, paths, and account addresses. They can be cleared from the app’s debug console. Do not share your database or logs as public attachments.
This website keeps things simple.
This coming-soon site has no signup form, advertising pixels, or analytics scripts added by Diakto. Its interactive examples use fictional documents and run in your browser. They do not access files on your computer.
Our hosting provider, Bluehost, may process ordinary web-server data such as IP addresses, requested pages, timestamps, and browser information to serve and protect the website. Its handling of that information is described in the hosting provider’s privacy information.
Before the public release.
We will update this page as the app and website develop. Public availability, pricing, and release details have not yet been announced.
